Step 1. The Discovery Session

That’s why we start every client engagement with a discovery session. It helps us:

Next, my team and I look at your current situation to understand the work required to meet your goals.

Specifically, we analyze:

  • Your current rankings and traffic. We conduct rank check to evaluate your current search visibility and identify where you are in relation to your goals.
  • Your website and content. We go beyond just identifying technical or on-page optimization issues that might be hindering your SEO efforts, though. We look at your user experience, mobile-friendliness and many other factors to evaluate how ready your site is to rank better.
  • We identify how many links point to your site. We also look at their quality and sources that link to you (and whether any need to be disavowed.)
  • The competition. We also break down your competitors’ SEO campaigns. We analyze their search visibility and identify what has worked particularly well for them. We also look at their backlinks and content to identify the most viable keywords to target. This step allows us to assess the market and search opportunity better but also, identify ways to outrank the competition quickly.

We compile our findings in a report and forward it to you. The document also includes a list of reasons why the website is not ranking well in the search results yet, along with recommendations for fixing them.

Well, we might be biased but we think that you do, and that’s for a simple reason. SEO allows you to grow while keeping the Cost of Customer Acquisition (CAC) under tabs.

SaaS marketing has an inherent and unfortunately, unavoidable flaw. The more you grow, the more you have to pay to acquire users. This is particularly true for freemium or trial models.

Given the typical SaaS conversion rates, you need to drive huge amounts of traffic to generate enough signups to warrant steady revenue growth. So, if you rely on paid traffic to do so, your cost of acquisition will rise continuously. It will get even bigger as you try to scale and boost the growth rate.

Using channels that do not require you to pay for every visit, like SEO, maintains a low and steady CAC even while your traffic and signups continue to grow.

Our goal is to drive your signups and revenue. Over time, as the strategy matures, you will see an uptake of signups and conversions from the organic search. This will happen because our work will drive more traffic to your site from the search engines. So, a more immediate result will be an increase in visitors landing on your site from Google. This, however, will come as a result of your content ranking well for high-value keywords. You’ll notice that in the ranking reports we’ll be sending you every month.

In short, the biggest outcomes of the SEO strategy (in the order of importance) are signups, traffic, and rankings.

Unfortunately, there is no simple answer to this. You’ll see an uptake in rankings relatively soon. But these changes mightn’t be big enough to deliver the key results – traffic and signups. Depending on your current situation, it might take a while for the rankings to raise to a level where they start bringing relevant visitors.

In general, we say that you should see some changes in traffic around 90 days after launching the strategy.
